The Afghan President urged the participants to spread the message of Baacha Khan throughout the world so they could see that the non-violence policy of Abdul Ghaffar Khan was the only way which could help human beings get rid of the man created problems. The Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said that the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan would not have been burnt in the fire of violence if they had followed the non-violence philosophy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. This he said while addressing the opening ceremony of a 3 day international conference being held by the Afghanistan information and culture ministry on Saturday to commemorate Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, opularly known as Baacha Khan, a press statement said. Lauding the struggle of Abdul Ghaffar Khan to free his area from the grip of English government through his non-violence philosophy, Karzai said Baacha Khan, the great politician of Pakhtunkhwa, had no clashes with any religion or nation, adding he believed in the service of the people. Karzai maintained that Baacha Khan has passed 27 years of his life in various prisons for raising voice to get rights of people and due to his non-violence and human-respecting policies. Terming Baacha Khan as inaugurator of education in the Pakhtunkhwa, Karzai said he kept on establishing schools besides fighting against the English rule and was imprisoned several times by the then government. Karzai said Baacha Khan incorporated more than hundred thousand people in the force of Khudai Khidmatgar and hoped to train his nation in such a style so that they would consider the service of people as their endeavor. He maintained they were discussing the character of Baacha Khan when two terrorist acts, one in a mosque in Darra Adam Khel, Pakistan and another in Faryab province, Afghanistan, left more than 70 people dead. Karzai maintained people of Pakistan and Afghanistan were burning in a fire against which Baacha Khan passed 27 years in prison, adding it would not have subjected them into that fire if they had followed the non-violence philosophy of the great Pakistan leader. On the occasion minister for information and culture said Baacha Khan was known as devotee and lover of regional and international freedom and rule of law like Nelson Mandela and Martin Lotor King. Several packed full gatherings were being held in Afghanistan and throughout the world to recall the struggles of Baacha Khan. However, it is for the first time in the last 30 years that the Afghanistan information and culture ministry arranged such a huge meeting to commemorate Baacha Khan and explore various aspects of his life. Baacha Khan struggled for the freedom of his people through his non-violence policy for which he suffered 27 year imprisonments. The Fakhr-i-Afghan, Abdul Ghaffar Khan, was buried in Nangarhar according to his last wish. Participants of the gathering, which is being attended by international scholars and educationists, and also from both sides of the Durand Line, would highlight their findings and research on the character and philosophy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.- د پښتونخوا خبریال
